Welcome to Sambaza Group, a nonprofit organization committed to advancing sustainable development in rural communities across East Africa. With a presence in both the United States and Kenya, we collaborate with researchers and institutions worldwide to establish resource centers in rural East African communities. Our goal is to equip these centers with the necessary expertise, technologies, and equipment to serve as integral and sustainable pillars of local communities.
Sambaza Group, founded in 2006 by Javier Gordon Ogembo and Matthew Pelowski, originated from the vision of uniting East African, Western, and Asian professionals and technologies to uplift East Africa and its people. Both founders, researchers at Nagoya University in Japan, hail from diverse backgrounds: Matthew from the U.S.A. and Gordon from Kenya. Over time, Sambaza Group has expanded its reach, now encompassing a diverse team of individuals dedicated to our mission.

Sambaza Group Foundation is committed to fostering comprehensive development and social progress in Kenya through a multifaceted approach that encompasses education, healthcare, sustainable development, and community empowerment. Our scope extends beyond students to encompass the broader community, addressing various dimensions of development. We provide scholarship assistance, university application support, financial aid, access to reading materials, mentorship, career counseling, skill development, and community engagement programs. Additionally, we prioritize healthcare initiatives, sustainable development projects, environmental conservation efforts, and economic empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the well-being, resilience, and prosperity of communities. By addressing the diverse needs of individuals and communities and promoting sustainable practices across multiple sectors, we aim to contribute to the overall prosperity, health, and inclusivity of Kenyan society.
Scholarship Assistance: We actively seek out top-performing students and assist them in applying for scholarships, both locally and internationally. Our team provides personalized guidance, application support, and mentorship to help students navigate the complex scholarship application process successfully.
University Applications: We support students in their applications to both overseas and local universities, guiding them through each step of the process. From choosing the right program to compiling application materials and preparing for interviews, we ensure that students are well-equipped to pursue higher education opportunities.
Financial Support: Recognizing the financial barriers that many students face, we provide financial assistance to cover school fees, purchase educational materials, and meet other academic expenses whenever possible. Our goal is to ensure that no student is denied access to education due to financial constraints.
Access to Reading Materials: We understand the importance of access to reading materials in promoting literacy and academic success. To support this, we establish libraries, provide books and textbooks, and facilitate access to digital learning resources, ensuring that students have the tools they need to thrive.
Mentorship and Guidance: Our foundation offers comprehensive mentorship and guidance programs designed to support students in their academic and personal development journey. Through one-on-one mentorship sessions, workshops, and seminars, we empower students to set goals, overcome challenges, and achieve success.
Career Counseling and Skill Development: We provide career counseling services and skill development workshops to help students explore their interests, identify career pathways, and develop essential skills for the workplace. By equipping students with practical skills and knowledge, we prepare them for future career opportunities.
