Dr. Obonyo will serve as the Liaison for Sambaza Group’s sustainable development program. As the Director of the Global Building Network, a partnership between the UNECE and Penn State, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Additionally, Dr. Obonyo holds the position of Associate Professor of Engineering Design and Architectural Engineering. Her distinguished career includes serving as a 2015/2016 Jefferson Science Fellow placed with the USAID Global Development Lab in Washington, DC. Prior to her current roles, she was a faculty member at the University of Florida’s (UF) Rinker School of Construction Management from August 2004 to July 2015. With extensive industry experience, Dr. Obonyo has held positions as a Construction Engineer, Project Manager, and Innovations Analyst in various engineering and construction companies in Kenya, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Her contributions to the field are widely recognized, with over 100 journal papers, conference proceedings, and presentations disseminating her work. Dr. Obonyo also serves on the editorial board of three Journals – Journal of IT in Construction, Buildings, and Intelligent Systems.
